'Should've Slapped...': Shashank Singh Reacts To Shreyas Iyer's On-Field Outburst

During Qualifier 2 clash against Mumbai, Shashank was run out at a crucial stage, triggering a visibly furious reaction from skipper Shreyas Iyer.

After a viral moment from IPL 2025’s Qualifier 2, Punjab Kings batter Shashank Singh has broken his silence on the controversial exchange with captain Shreyas Iyer, calling the criticism “deserved.”

During the high-stakes clash against Mumbai Indians, Shashank was run out at a crucial stage, triggering a visibly furious reaction from skipper Shreyas Iyer.

The moment, captured on camera, showed Iyer yelling at Shashank, which quickly ignited conversation online.

Now, in a recent interview with Indian Express, Shashank addressed the incident, saying,"I deserve it, Iyer should have slapped me, my father didn't speak to me till the finals. I was casual, I was walking on the beach not even in the garden. It was a crucial time, Shreyas was clear that I didn't expect this from you but later he took me out for dinner."

Shashank's father had also expressed frustration over the dismissal, reflecting the emotional weight of the moment within the camp.

Shashank’s Redemption in the Final

Despite the mistake in Qualifier 2, Shashank Singh delivered a heroic performance in the IPL 2025 final against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Chasing 191, Punjab Kings fell short by just 6 runs, ending at 184. Shashank fought valiantly till the end, scoring a quickfire 61 off 30 balls, including six sixes, keeping Punjab’s hopes alive until the final over.

Though the franchise couldn’t secure its maiden IPL title, Shashank’s innings stood out as one of the tournament’s most spirited knocks—and his mature handling of the Iyer incident has earned him respect off the field as well.
