Famous Bangladeshi Author Taslima Nasreen Criticizes Shakib Al Hasan For Apologizing After Islamist Threats

Shakib Al Hasan had posted a video on his channel on YouTube in which he was seen apologizing over attending the Hindu ceremony last week in Kolkata.

Famous Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, a well-known advocate for human rights and equality, took to twitter to criticize Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for issuing a public apology after worshiping Goddess Kali in Kolkata. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Nasreen wrote,"Sakib Al Hasan should not have apologised for attending Kali puja in Kolkata. His apology will strengthen the islamists to kill Muslims whoever visit puja mandap or sympathise with Hindus. He should have said what he did was right, love should be celebrated& hate should be rejected."

Why Shakib Al Hasan Received Death Threat On Social Media?

The star player had posted a video on his channel on YouTube in which he was seen apologizing over attending the Hindu ceremony last week. Shakib Al Hasan arrived at Kolkata to perform Kali Puja on 16 November and after this, a person from Bangladesh on social media had threatened to kill him. It is believed that Shakib is under immense pressure due to the ongoing protests against him on social media and hence he issued a public apology on Tuesday, during which he also said that 'this will not happen again'.

This is the first incident when a Bangladeshi player is being threatened with death in this manner. Shakib Al Hasan made Kali Pooja's Facebook live and during this time a person used abusive words against the player and threatened to kill him.
This person has been identified as Mohsin. This person named Mohsin has even said to reach Dhaka to kill Shakib. However, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet has given full confidence to Shakib for security.
Sylhet's BM Ashraf Ullah Taher has said that action has started to take place against the person who threatened Shakib. Ullah Taher has said that action in this matter will be completed soon.

Facebook has already taken action on this matter though. It has removed Mohsin's comment from its platform. Shakib Al Hasan has recently returned to the cricket field after facing a one-year ban. The star all-rounder was banned for a year by the ICC for not providing information related to a fixing case.
