Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav Named In Mumbai's 35-Probable List For Off-Season Training Camp

Shreyas Iyer, who missed the entire IPL due to a lower back injury and underwent surgery in mid-April, has also been named in the list along with Rohit, Suryakumar, Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur.

Mumbai: The recently-formed Mumbai selection committee, headed by former Indian cricketer Raju Kulkarni, has announced a list of 35 potential players for an upcoming off-season training camp in Mumbai. Some notable names included in the list are Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shardul Thakur.

However, the participation of these players in the camp is uncertain due to their current involvement in the World Test Championship final against Australia, which commences on June 7 at The Oval in England. Suryakumar though isn't part of the squad but has travelled with the team as a reserve.

Shreyas Iyer, who missed the entire IPL due to a lower back injury and underwent surgery in mid-April, has also been named in the list. The BCCI had previously stated that Iyer would report to the National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation after his surgery and would not be available for the WTC final.

The roster released by the Mumbai selection committee features experienced fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni, all-rounder Shivan Dube, who had an impressive IPL season with the Chennai Super Kings, batting stalwart Sarfaraz Khan, and promising talent Prithvi Shaw. However, Siddharth Raut, a right-arm fast bowler who played a few matches for the Ranji Trophy champions last season, has been excluded from the list.

A meeting was held at the Wankhede Stadium, hosted by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials, including President Amol Kale, Vice-President Sanjay Naik, Secretary Ajinkya Naik, Joint-Secretary Deepak Patil, and members of the apex council. The gathering also involved discussions on the upcoming cricket season, with former player Milind Rege and Lalchand Rajput, the Chairman of the Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC), among others in attendance.
