Pakistan Cricket In Crisis: 16 Matches Of Unacceptable Failure

Following their disastrous Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, Pakistan's struggles in T20 cricket have persisted.

The Pakistan cricket team is currently on a tour of New Zealand for a five-match T20I series, but their struggles continue. Having already suffered back-to-back defeats in the first two games, Pakistan's poor form shows no signs of improvement.

Their performances over the last 16 T20Is paint a grim picture, with the team managing victories only against weaker opponents.

Pakistan's declining form

Following their disastrous Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, Pakistan's struggles in T20 cricket have persisted.

In their last 16 T20 International matches, they have secured just four wins, all against relatively weaker teams like Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Canada. Against stronger opponents, their performances have been underwhelming, raising serious concerns about their competitiveness at the highest level.

Another defeat in Dunedin

The second T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand in Dunedin was shortened to 15 overs per side due to rain, but Pakistan's batting woes continued. They managed just 135/9, with captain Salman Ali Agha being the lone bright spot, scoring 46 runs.

New Zealand comfortably chased down the target in 13.1 overs, losing just five wickets. Tim Seifert (45 off 22 balls) and Finn Allen (38 off 16 balls) dismantled Pakistan’s bowling attack. The only noteworthy effort from Pakistan’s bowlers came from Haris Rauf, who picked up two wickets.

Can Pakistan avoid another series defeat?

With three T20I matches still to play, Pakistan desperately needs a turnaround to prevent another humiliating series loss. If they fail to improve, this tour could further expose the growing weaknesses in their squad. Can Pakistan cricket team stage a comeback, or is another whitewash on the horizon?

With back-to-back wins, NZ are 2-0 up in five-match T20I series. The third T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand will take place on Friday (March 21) at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand.
