Kohli reveals why Ishant Sharma was "pissed off" after Adelaide win

According to the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, while everyone in the team was happy after the historical win, it was Ishant Sharma, who was "pissed off" because he ended up bowling no-balls

Team India created history after winning the first Test by 31-runs against Australia in Adelaide. India won a Test match in Adelaide after 15 years. They last won a game here in 2003.

According to the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, while everyone in the team was happy after the historical win, it was Ishant Sharma, who was "pissed off" because he ended up bowling no-balls, especially during crucial moments of the match, to Australian players Nathan Lyon and Aaron Finch.

At the post-match presser, Kohli said, "Ishant was pissed off right now – we are all very happy celebrating but he was very angry with himself and asked I why and he said: ‘You can't afford to bowl a no-ball being the senior guy. Having played so many games in a crunch situation and the umpire probably would have given that out'."

Praising Sharma's ability to learn from mistakes, Kohli added, “I am sure Ishant is going to be obsessed about not doing it again, just like how we improved our batting straight away in the second innings at the top of the order. Guys want to learn as soon as they can, take responsibility themselves, and they are not hiding from it."

Asked if the team was frustrated with the spirited fight from the Australian tailenders, especially Mitchell Starc, Pat Cumming and Nathan Lyon, whose contributions down the order almost gave India a scare, Kohli said the mantra was to "stay calm".

“These things happen in Tests, ups and downs through a game. You need to just stay calm. Odds were stacked against them. They fought really well but we executed our plans well and got that last wicket which was intending to get,” he said.
