KCA Suspends Sreesanth For 3 Years Over Remarks On Sanju Samson’s CT 2025 Exclusion Controversy

KCA has suspended S Sreesanth for three years over defamatory remarks regarding Sanju Samson's exclusion and plans to seek compensation from Samson’s father.

The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has handed former India cricketer S Sreesanth a three-year suspension from all cricket-related activities for making false and defamatory statements against the board over Sanju Samson’s exclusion from India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad. The KCA announced the decision in an official statement following a special general body meeting.

In a statement, the KCA said the decision was made during a special General Body meeting held in Kochi on April 30.

Sreesanth, who is currently the co-owner of Kollam Sailors— a franchise in the Kerala Cricket League — had earlier received a show-cause notice over his controversial remarks, along with franchise teams Kollam Aeries, Alappuzha Team Lead, and Alappuzha Ripples.

"Since the franchise teams gave satisfactory responses to the notices, no further action will be taken against them. However, the meeting decided to advise greater caution when appointing members to team management," the statement said.

The controversy erupted after Sanju Samson was left out of Kerala’s Vijay Hazare Trophy squad—a move that was soon followed by his exclusion from India’s Champions Trophy squad. The decision drew sharp criticism from Sreesanth, who openly lashed out at the KCA. In response to his comments, the KCA served him a show-cause notice, clarifying that it was not issued for backing Samson but for making unsubstantiated allegations against the board—an act that violated his contractual obligations as co-owner of the Kollam Sailors franchise.

The General Body also decided to pursue a compensation claim against Sanju Samson’s father, Samson Vishwanath and two others for allegedly making unfounded accusations using Samson’s name, the statement added.
