Lets have a look at the names of three unretained batters who might start a bidding war in the upcoming IPL 2022 auction.
New Delhi: The retention process for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL) is over and the eight existing teams have made their retentions. Many star players have been retained by the teams but there are also some big names who have the potential to start a bidding war during the IPL 2022 mega auction.
The two new IPL teams Lucknow and Ahmedabad can pick a maximum of 3 players ahead of the auction. Here are the names of three unretained batters who might start a bidding war in the upcoming IPL 15 auction.
1. David Warner: The Aussie opener, who was adjudged the 'Player of the Tournament' in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, might bag a good amount in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
Warner, who has not been able to do anything special in the last 2 seasons in the IPL, has been released by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Last year, the swashbuckling batter had taken his team to the finals by batting brilliantly in every match of the T20 World Cup. In the final match too, he scored 53 runs in 38 balls to help Australia win the T20 World Cup for the first time.
2. Faf du Plessis: The 37-year-old South African batter had scored 633 runs in 16 matches in the last season. He did amazing batting in IPL 2020 as well. Despite this, Chennai Super Kings have not retained him. There may be a bidding war competition among the franchises to include this player in their respective team.
3. Shikhar Dhawan: The senior opener has made an impact with his batting in every IPL season. He has scored more than 500 runs in the last three seasons. Delhi Capitals have not retained Shikhar. There is a possibility of good bidding for the 36-year-old player in the auction. Dhawan has played 192 matches of IPL so far. During this, he scored 5784 runs with 2 centuries and 44 half-centuries.
