IPL 2024: Lucknow Super Giants Appoint MSK Prasad As Strategic Consultant
IPL 2024: MSK Prasad will aid the LSG as their Head of Talent Search and talent development.
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) announced the appointment of India wicketkeeper MSK Prasad as their strategic consultant on Thursday (August 17). In an official statement released by the franchise, it has been conveyed that the former chief selector of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be critical in providing guidance across a wide range of spheres. Prasad will aid the franchise as their Head of Talent Search and talent development.
It is worth highlighting that Prasad's appointment comes after the new franchise announced the appointment of former Australian opener Justin Langer as their head coach. Langer replaced Andy Flower at the helm of coaching staff who has gone on to join Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of IPL 2024. Notably, LSG did manage to secure a place for themselves in the Playoffs last season but were completely outplayed in the Eliminator against Mumbai Indians (MI).
"Prasad brings with him a wealth of experience and a stellar track record in cricket operations, coupled with a passion that has driven him to remarkable achievements in both national and international arenas. His journey is marked by a range of accomplishments that spans from representing the Indian National Cricket Team to steering the operations of prominent cricket associations; all of which will bring valuable insights and experience to our organization," LSG said in their official statement.
LSG are a fairly new franchise in the IPL and the 2023 season was only their second season. The team has already qualified for the final four stage in each of their two seasons so far. However, with a new coaching staff and with KL Rahul expected to recover and be with them for the full season in 2024, the team would look to go all the way and lift their maiden title sooner than later.
