IPL 2020: Mumbai Indians Skipper Rohit Sharma Becomes Second Most Capped Player In T20 League's History

When Rohit Sharma walked out in the middle at the Shiekh Zayed Stadium at Abu Dhabi to open the innings against Rajasthan Royals in Match 20 of the ongoing IPL 2020 on Tuesday, he overtook Suresh Raina's record of 193 league appearance to become the second most capped player in IPL history.

Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma added yet another milestone to his glittering IPL career as he became the second most capped player in the history of the cash rich T20 league on Tuesday (October 6). When Rohit Sharma walked out in the middle at the Shiekh Zayed Stadium at Abu Dhabi to open the innings against Rajasthan Royals in Match 20 of the ongoing IPL 2020 at Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, he overtook Suresh Raina's record of 193 league appearance to become the second most capped player in IPL history. Mumbai Indians went onto register their fourth win of the season after trouncing Rajasthan Royals by a huge margin of 57 runs. Skipper Rohit played his part in his team's dominant win by scoring a breezy 35 off just 23 deliveries up the order. The MI captain's 194th appearance meant he is now just second behind CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the list of most experienced cricketers in the IPL. MS Dhoni leads the list for most IPL caps with a record 195 league appearances. Rohit also happens to be the most successful skipper in IPL history, leading MI to 3 titles under his captaincy. Dhoni who has played majority of his cricket for the highly successful CSK franchise also happened to don the jersey for Rising Pune Supergiant in one season. One of the most consistent run scorers in the Indian Premier League ever since its inception in 2008, Rohit Sharma is third on the all time list of run scorers in the IPL with over 5100 runs at a decent average of over 31.
