IPL 2020, MI vs KXIP: Hitman Rohit Sharma Registers 5000 Runs In IPL; List Of Other Records Broken| 8 Points

Mumbai Indians are at the top of the points table. A princely Rohit Sharma and a fiery Kieron Pollard – honourable mention Hardik Pandya – laid the foundation for their 48-run victory against Kings XI Punjab.

IPL 2020: Mumbai Indians defeated Kings XI Punjab by a huge margin of 48 runs in Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Thursday. While Mumbai Indians did not start off well and lost Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav in quick succession. But Rohit Sharma played a captain's knock. More records were broken in the fiery encounter between Mumbai Indians and Kings Eleven Punjab.
  • Kings XI Punjab's Sheldon Cottrel has taken the most wickets (4) in power-play in IPL2020 so far. The West Indies pacer left his struggles behind to prove his worth against Mumbai Indians on Thursday. Cottrell started the proceedings for KXIP with a maiden over against Mumbai including a brilliant dismissal of Quinton de Kock. Cottrell bowled a perfect late inswinger to clean up De Kock, who was left completely beaten by the brilliance of the left-arm pacer. Looking to play it across the line against outswing, De Kock saw his stumps get rattled by the delivery as Cottrell got the KL Rahul-led side off to a perfect start after they opted to bowl first in Dubai.

With the latest record in his kitty, Sharma joined the RCB skipper Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina in a select club of batsman to have achieved the milestone. Hitman Rohit on the other hand is on a record-breaking spree in the IPL as he became only the fourth batsman to hit 200 IPL in the previous game against KKR.
  • Rohit Sharma was a proud captain after winning the match against Punjab by 48 runs. Hitman Rohit has captained Mumbai Indians against Kings Eleven Punjab in 14 matches and has now registered 9 victories against them.
  • Rohit surpasses 600 runs against KXIP. Rohit Sharma has a decent record against KXIP in the IPL. He has now gone past 600 runs against KXIP (660). He smashed his sixth career fifty against KXIP. Rohit became only the ninth player to register 600-plus runs against Punjab. Rohit went past MS Dhoni's tally against KXIP (595).
  • Mayank Agarwal (25) is now the highest run-scorer in IPL 2020 (246). The opening batsman went past the 1,500-run mark in the competition (1,512).
  • KL Rahul hit one four in his innings of 17. He has now raced to 200 career IPL fours.
  • Jasprit Bumrah has raced to 87 career IPL scalps.
  • Mohammed Shami is now the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2020 (8).
