WATCH: India off to poor start, Dhawan out on Duck, Pujara, Rahane go cheaply
India won the toss and opted to bat first
Team India took the field against Essex in the 3-day practice match County Ground, Chelmsford on Wednesday. After winning the toss, captain Virat Kohli opted to bat first. However, the top order failed to provide a good start as the guests lost two wickets within first 3 overs.
Opening the Indian inning with his partner Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan took the strike but fell prey to paceman Matt Coles right in the 3rd ball of very first over of the game. Dhawan misjudged a good length delivery from Coles while the ball kissed his bat and landed safely in the gloves wicketkeeper James Foster.
Essex had the first breakthrough and Dhawan went for a duck.

Post Dhawan’s dismissal, came at no 3 Cheteshwar Pujara. Despite having an ample of County cricketing experience with Yorkshire on the English soil, the 30-year-old batsman failed to create any difference. Matt Coles struck again and removed the Indian Test specialist on 1.
