Chasing a 143-run target to win, opener KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan produced a breezy opening stand to build a solid platform for the host to hunt down the below par total. Rahul continued with his form from the West Indies series and scored a 45-run knock. Meanwhile, Dhawan making a return into the team chipped in with 32 before getting trapped leg before wicket by spinner. Skipper Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer then stitched a handy 3rd wicket partnership to help the host coast near towards the target with relative ease. Against the run of play, Shreyas Iyer lost his wicket to Lahiru Kumara a well compiled 34. Skipper Kohli then struck a six of Lahiru Kumara to finish off the proceedings in style and win the first T2OI for India in 2020. Bumrah then produced a beauty to clean bowl Dasun Shanaka. Shardul Thakur then polished off the tale to get rid of Dhananjaya de Silva and Isuru Udana.Wanindu Hasaranga finished off the innings with a flourish belting Bumrah for three boundaries in the last over.
