This sparked an online debate between Indian and Pakistani fans, who exchanged words for and against the IPL.

Shortly after the video went viral, Pakistani fans began claiming that their players "ignored the IPL final," sparking a war of words between fans from the two neighbouring countries. A user who appears to be a Pakistani supporter wrote, “On the one hand, the final match of IPL was playing on the big screen and the Pakistan team was ignoring it. Sorry IPL No Respect for you,”
