IND vs ENG: Three Indian Players Who Could Clinch Player Of The Series

A few Indian players have emerged as strong contenders for the prestigious 'Player of the Series' award. Let’s take a look at the top three candidates.

The ongoing five-match Test series between India and England has already produced thrilling contests and standout individual performances.

With three Tests completed, England leads the series 2-1. However, the Indian team has displayed commendable resilience and quality cricket in all departments—batting, bowling, and fielding.

As the final two matches approach, a few Indian players have emerged as strong contenders for the prestigious 'Player of the Series' award.

Let’s take a look at the top three candidates.

1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill has been a revelation in this series. In six innings across the three Tests, he has piled up an astonishing 607 runs at a phenomenal average of 101.17.

His strike rate of 71.83 reflects his ability to keep the scoreboard ticking while maintaining composure at the crease. Gill’s tally includes 66 boundaries and 12 sixes.

What makes his performance even more impressive is the significant gap between him and the second-highest run-scorer, underlining his dominance with the bat. If he continues this form, Gill could very well walk away with the Player of the Series honour.

2. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant has once again proven why he’s considered one of India’s biggest match-winners in Tests. He has scored 425 runs in six innings at an excellent average of 70.83, with a strike rate of 78.41.

Pant has smashed 46 fours and 15 sixes, often changing the momentum of the match with his fearless approach. His ability to perform under pressure and accelerate when needed makes him a vital asset for the team and a strong candidate for the award.

3. Mohammed Siraj

On the bowling front, Mohammed Siraj has been India's most successful pacer in the series so far. He has claimed 13 wickets in six innings at an average of 32, including one five-wicket haul.

With Jasprit Bumrah—currently on 12 wickets—likely to play only one of the remaining Tests, Siraj has a solid chance to finish as the leading wicket-taker. If he maintains his rhythm and continues to deliver breakthroughs, his name could easily feature as the Player of the Series.
