IND vs AUS 2nd Test: India Win Toss, Choose To Bat First In Adelaide; Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, R Ashwin Back In Playing 11

IND vs AUS 2nd Test: India won the toss and opted to bat first in the India vs Australia day-night Test in Adelaide. Read below to know the playing 11s of both the teams.

IND vs AUS 2nd Test: India won the toss and chose to bat first in the second India vs Australia Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 at the Adelaide Oval on December 6 (Friday). India's regular Test skipper Rohit Sharma came back into the side after missing the first Test at Perth due to the birth of his second child. Along with Rohit, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shubman Gill also made a return into the playing 11 for the visitors.

Australia only made one change to their playing 11, that too a forced one. Pacer Scott Boland replaced the injured Josh Hazlewood as the veteran Aussie speedster sustained a low-grade side strain injury during the first IND vs AUS Test in Perth.

Here's the playing 11s for IND vs AUS 2nd Test:

Australia Playing 11: Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey(w), Pat Cummins(c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland

India Playing 11: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Rohit Sharma (c), Nitish Kumar Reddy, R Ashwin, Harshit Rana, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj

While Rohit Sharma chose to bat first after winning the toss in the day-night Test at Adelaide Oval, the slightly overcast conditions made it not a bad toss to lose for Australian captain Pat Cummins.

Here's what both the captains said at the toss:

Rohit Sharma: We are going to bat first. Looks a good pitch, looks a bit dry at the moment, enough grass covering as well. It'll have some carry for the fast bowlers. As the game goes on, it'll get better to bat on. There will be something in it for everyone. It's going to be a good game. I have been here for two weeks now. Had a good hit in the nets, played a game as well, ready to go now. (Mood in the dressing room) It is pretty good, pretty vibrant. We've played a really good Test match in Perth, it was superb to watch from the outside. What the boys did was superb. It's just about carrying that into this Test match. It's a long series, we just want to focus on how we can get the results in our favour, we'll try and do most things right in this game. I am happy, the fast bowlers are happy as well (with the break). The breaks are welcome. Momentum is also important. We want to carry from where we left. We have made 3 changes. I am back, Gill is back. Ashwin is back. I am batting in the middle order which is different, but I am ready for the challenge.

Pat Cummins: Yeah that's right (when asked if he would have batted first), but day one, pink ball, you never know, there might be a bit of nip for us. It's always good to have a fresh start. It's a venue where we really love playing. Pink ball can be a little bit different than the red ball. Everyone can look back at the success that we've had in past games, really excited. We weren't at our best last week, it's been a really good preparation, the boys are itching to get out there. Maybe little more sing, it's pretty muggy today. Just one change. Josh Hazlewood misses, Scott Boland comes in.
