Australia's Marcus Labuschagne Removes Virat Kohli From Top 3 Of ICC's Batting Rankings, Pujara And Pant Exceed

For the first time since 2016, Virat Kohli has moved out of the ICC’s Top 3 Test ranking batsmen.

Virat Kohli dropped from number two to number four in ICC Test Batsmen Rankings. It is safe to assume that this drop took place as Virat missed the last three test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The stand-in captain for the series, Ajinkya Rahane who led India to a historic series win also dropped points and now he is placed at number 9 in the Test Rankings.

Rishabh Pant also climbs the ladder of the rankings to reach the 13th spot in the rankings. He becomes the highest rated wicket-keeper batsman in the world currently.

Australia’s batsman Marcus Labuschagne had a great series against India. He climbed two places to take Kohli’s place at number 2. Basically he swapped places with the Indian captain. Whereas, Pujara swapped places with Ben Stokes. He now ranks no. 7 in the ICC Test Batman ratings.

India’s regular captain Virat Kohli took a paternity leave after the first Test of their Australian tour. As it turns out, Kohli has been displaced out of his Top 3 status in ICC’s batsmen rankings by Australian batting star Marnus Labuschagne, who scored 426 runs throughout the four matches against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

While Kohli is at no.4 currently, he will get a chance to better his rankings in the test series against England which are scheduled to be played in India.

After the Gabba Test victory, India climb spaces and reach number 1 in the ICC World Test Championship standings. With 430 points, India is ahead of New Zealand by 10 points who are sitting at 420 points.

All the Test rankings are subject to change with the upcoming series between India-England and South Africa-Pakistan.
