ICC suspends West Indies coach Stuart Law for first two ODIs against India

Law was found guilty of breaching Level 2 Article 2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct. ICC in a statement said that Law was fined 100 per cent of his match and earned three demerit points for a breach

Adding to the Windies sorrow after a disastrous defeat against India, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended West Indies coach Stuart Law on Tuesday for the first two ODIs against India. The decision of ICC to suspend Law comes after he made "inappropriate comments" against a match official.

Law was found guilty of breaching Level 2 Article 2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct. ICC in a statement said that Law was fined 100 per cent of his match and earned three demerit points for a breach.

According to an ICC release, after the dismissal of opener Kieran Powell, Law went to the TV umpire’s room and made some inappropriate comments. The incident took place on the third day i.e the final day of the second test match between India vs West Indies in Hyderabad.

"He then walked to the fourth umpire's area and, in the presence of the players, again directed inappropriate comments at the fourth official."

Level 2 Article 2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct relates to "public criticism" or "inappropriate comment" of player, player support personnel, match official or team participating in any international match.

Earlier, in 2017, during the Test in the Dominica against Pakistan, Law had received one demerit point and a 25 per cent fine.
