'He Is A Superhuman': Mohammad Rizwan Hits Two Fifties In Two Formats, 36 Hours And 14,000 Km Apart

Mohammad Rizwan scored a fifty in a Test match in Galle 36 hours before scoring a fifty in a Global T20 Canada match in Brampton.

It has been a bit of a hectic week for Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batter Mohamamad Rizwan but he is far from complaining. While he was not initially named in Pakistan's playing XI for the second Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle and was serving drinks to his teammates, an opportunity arose to serve national team when preferred stumper in Tests Sarfaraz Ahmed got hit on the head while batting and Rizwan was called upon as a concussion substitute. The 31-year-old made the most of his opportunity with an unbeaten fifty.

Rizwan had brought up his half-century on Day 4 morning of the Test match and by the end of the day, the Babar Azam-led side managed to wrap up the game with Sri Lanka getting bowled out for 188Global T20 Canada. However, there was hardly any time to rest for Rizwan who had signed up to play for Vancouver Knights in a different continent. Straight to the airport after a Test match, Rizwan then travelled 14,000 to a different continent and made himself available for Vancouver's fixture against Brampton Wolves not long after he had landed in Canada.

Rizwan even made a near-instant impact, grabbing a catch that helped Vancouver Knights pick their first wicket as Brampton Wolves eventually finished at 129/9. In response, Rizwan made his presence felt in the Playing XI with another fifty. He scored a 42-ball 52 helping his side clinch a comfortable victory by 9 wickets.

"Rizwan seems like he’s superhuman," Vancouver Knights captain Rassie van der Dussen said after the match as corroborated by the tournament's official social media handle.

"Straight off the plane and into the match – he just got here before the game and ran straight onto the field. As a captain, to have a guy with his experience in the team is just brilliant," he added.
