Fazalhaq Farooqi Tells Afghanistan Captain Rashid Khan To 'Shut Up' In Hilarious Post-Match Presentation- WATCH

In hilarious turn of events, Afghanistan bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi tells Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan to 'shut up' during the post-match presentation.

Afghanistan (AFG) secured their place in the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 with a seven-wicket victory over Papua New Guinea (PNG) in a Group C match at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on June 14 (Friday, India time). This win marked Afghanistan's third consecutive victory in as many games. However, what drew widespread attention was Afghanistan's T20I captain unexpectedly joining teammate Fazalhaq Farooqi's post-match interview with Ian Bishop after their victory.

Farooqi, recognized for his match-winning performance, was awarded Player of the Match award. During his post-match interview with the former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop, he engaged in a humorous exchange with his captain Rashid Khan.

Rashid Khan positioned himself near one of the cameramen covering Farooqi's interview and attempted to distract him, but the left-arm seamer remained composed and gave a hilarious response as well.

During one of his responses, Farooqi jokingly said, "You shut up!" prompting Ian Bishop to clarify to viewers that the remark was directed at Rashid, not at him.

"He is trying to make me laugh but I am not laughing," Farooqi remarked, maintaining his focus on the interview despite Rashid's persistent efforts to make his teammate laugh.

All-Round Afghanistan Prove To Be Too Hot For Papua New Guinea

Choosing to bowl first after winning the toss, Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi (3/16) and Naveen-ul-Haq (2/4) starred with the ball, dismissing Papua New Guinea for 95-10 in 19.5 overs. In response, Gulbadin Naib's 49 off 36 deliveries guided Afghanistan to chase down the target in 15.1 overs with seven wickets in hand, securing their qualification for the Super 8 stage of the tournament.

Farooqi also acknowledged Afghanistan’s strong cricketing performances and extended congratulations to the people of Afghanistan for advancing to the Super 8 stage.

"I want to congratulate the people of Afghanistan for qualifying to the Super 8, I think we've played some good cricket. I was in the IPL, unfortunately I didn't get a game, so I came here and gave myself the strength to come and perform," Farooqi remarked.
