The series will usher in a new era of sorts as it will be the first bilateral one to be played on the international circuit after the coronavirus pandemic led to disruption of all of the cricketing calendar, with most bilateral engagements and multi-nation tournaments getting indefinitely postponed. West Indies won the last series between the sides in 2018-19 on home soil, but have not won a series in England since 1988.
