Emotional Ritika Reacts To Rohit Sharma's Test Retirement

Rohit's wife, Ritika Sajdeh, has always been a constant presence by his side, often seen cheering for him from the stands.

After calling time on his T20I career following India's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, Rohit Sharma has now announced his retirement from Test cricket - this time during the middle of IPL 2025. The decision came as a surprise to many fans and sparked a wave of reactions from the cricket fraternity and those close to him.

Ritika Sajdeh's emotional reaction

Rohit's wife, Ritika Sajdeh, has always been a constant presence by his side, often seen cheering for him from the stands.

Following the announcement, Ritika took to social media and shared Rohit's retirement post on her Instagram story, accompanied by a heartbroken emoji - an emotional response that reflects her disappointment at not being able to witness him in whites again.

What led to Rohit's decision?

While Rohit had once been a reliable presence for India in Test cricket - both as an opener and a captain - his recent record had come under scrutiny.

India's 0-3 home series loss to New Zealand and a 1-4 defeat in Australia under his leadership were major setbacks. His form with the bat also dipped significantly, putting his spot in the squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against England in question. With speculation around his captaincy and selection growing, Rohit decided to bow out on his own terms.

A look at Rohit's Test career

Rohit Sharma made his Test debut in 2013 and went on to play 67 matches, scoring 4,302 runs in 116 innings. His career includes 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries, with a highest score of 212. From middle-order beginnings to becoming a solid Test opener, Rohit’s red-ball journey has had many memorable moments.

With Rohit's exit, India's Test team will now enter a new phase - one that begins without one of its most charismatic leaders.
