BCCI Central Contracts 2023: Shikhar Dhawan Likely To Be Dropped- Report

BCCI Central Contracts: Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav are likely to be promoted in the annual contract.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce the new central contracts next month. While it was supposed to be done earlier, it got delayed owing to the Board's election. And now a fresh media report suggests that the BCCI has finalised the contracts but it will be made official only in the month of February.

The report carried by InsideSport suggests that the announcement got delayed also because of the appointment of the new selection committee.

"Yes, there has been a little delay due to elections and the selection committee. The final discussions are already done. It should be out by next month," a senior BCCI official was quoted by InsideSport.

The same article claims that while Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav are likely to be promoted, star batter Shikhar Dhawan will not find his name in the list of contracted players.

Earlier, ABP Live had reported that Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma- both of whom haven't been part of India's Test plans lately could be dropped from the BCCI Central Contracts. Along with Dhawan, other players who could lose their contract is Mayank Agarwal and Wriddhiman Saha.

Contracted Players Set To Receive Massive Hike: Report

Meanwhile, contracted members of the Indian cricket team are set to receive a salary hike from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). While Rohit Sharma & Co. have featured in more number of matches in the last few years, they have not received an increased salary despite the Indian Cricket Board generating massive revenue from the sale of two new franchises in 2020.

As it stands, the men's cricketers in the A+ category are receiving a whopping 7 crore annually apart from their match fees. Similarly, those in A category, receive 5 crore annually while players in B bracket receive 3 crore. C category contracted cricketers get 1 crore per annum other than their match fees. Currently, only Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah fall in the A+ category.
