Asghar Afghan Reappointed As Afghanistan Skipper Across All Formats
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the development Wednesday through a social media post
Afghanistan top-order batsman Asghar Afghan has been reappointed as team’s captain across all the three formats of the game. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the development Wednesday through a social media post.
The 32-year-old was released from his post ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019 in England. He was then replaced by Gulbadin Naib in the ODIs, while Rahmat Shah held the helm in the longer format. The changes didn’t favour the team as they lost all nine matches in the tournament. Following their poor World Cup stint, sensational leg-spinner Rashid Khan was handed the leadership across all the formats. However, under Rashid too, the war-torn nation didn’t taste much success as they were whitewashed in the three-match ODI series by West Indies in November this year.As per the decision by ACB Top management , Senior player Asghar Afghan is reappointed as team Afghanistan's Captain across formats.

Asghar has played 100 ODIs for Afghanistan and also has the experience of playing all the four Tests that Afghanistan have played so far. He has one century under his name in ODIs and has slammed a total of 18 half-centuries in all the three formats combined.BREAKING: ACB have reappointed Asghar Afghan as 🇦🇫 captain in all formats! pic.twitter.com/ZMYAkBkUIe
