BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Named As One Of Directors Of Newly-formed ISL Franchisee ATK-Mohun Bagan
Confirming Ganguly's appointment as one of the directors of ATK-Mohun Bagan, team co-owner Utsav Parekh said that the BCCI president is 100 percent eligible to become a director on account of him being a co-owner of the franchisee
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was named by Indian Super League franchise ATK-Mohun Bagan as one of the directors of the recently formed football club ahead of the upcoming ISL season.
"Ganguly is one of the team co-owners and is 100 per cent eligible to become a director. We will meet on July 10 for the first time to finalise our name, jersey and logo.", confirmed team co-owner and one of the franchisee directors Utsav Parekh.
The ATK-Mohun Bagan Board will meet on July 10 to finalise the club's name, jersey and logo ahead of the season.
Leading industrialist Sanjiv Goenka happens to be the franchisee chairman and is a majority stakeholder in the newly merged entity after acquiring majority 80 per cent stake in the century-old Mohun Bagan club.
At the time of registration with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs last month, the 'ATK-Mohun Bagan Private Limited' presented five members -- ATK co-owner Utsav Parekh, Mohun Bagan duo of Srinjoy Bose and Debashish Dutta, and two other members -- Gautam Ray and Sanjeev Mehra.

"It was just a formality, a paperwork to start the venture officially. Even (team principal owner) Goenka was not part of the Board then. We have inducted him along with Ganguly," Parekh said on Sunday.
"The board is meeting on July 10 and further decisions will be taken there. A board has a lot to discuss and plan for the whole year, and among them talks of the club's name, jersey and logo can come up for discussion," he added.
"Sanjiv Goenka will remain principal owner of the merged entity and Sourav Ganguly will remain co-owner. There has been no change in that, so he is eligible to become a director, simple."
Before the merger of the two entities, ATK had won the ISL title thrice while Mohun Bagan had lifted I-League trophy twice.
A merger between the erstwhile Mohun Bagan club and ISL franchisee ATK led to the creation of a merged entity by the name of ATK-Mohun Bagan with effect June 1.
In the merged entity, ATK, the original ISL franchise owned by Sanjiv Goenka's RPSG Group, have 80 per cent stake while the remaining 20 per cent is with Mohun Bagan, who bagged the I-League title with four rounds to spare.
