Ambati Rayudu Retires From International Cricket

The right-hand batsman hasn’t quoted any particular reason for his massive. However, he said that he will continue playing in the Indian Premier League

Indian middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. His decision came days after he failed to secure a spot in the 15-man Indian squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. News Agency ANI confirmed the development through a tweet where they informed that the batsman has written to the BCCI about his decision. Here’s the post: Earlier, he was listed among the reserve players along with Ishant Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel and Navdeep Saini. However, the BCCI didn’t offer him the ticket to England even after Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar were ruled out of injuries. Instead, the apex board opted to rope in Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal as replacements. According to an Indian Express report, the right-hand batsman hasn’t quoted any particular reason for his massive decision. At the same time, he said that he will continue playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Hours before this news broke out, Iceland Cricket offered Rayudu permanent residency in their country so that he can play for them after being rejected time and again by Team India. Iceland Cricket also tweeted out the application form for permanent residency in Iceland if the Indian batter intended to take them up on their offer. "Agarwal has three professional wickets at 72.33 so at least Ambati Rayudu can put away his 3D glasses now. He will only need normal glasses to read the document we have prepared for him. Come join us Ambati. We love the Rayudu things," tweeted Iceland Cricket. In the 50 ODI innings that he has played, Rayudu scored 1694 runs at an average of 47.05 with a top score of 124*. He has hit three centuries and 10 fifties and has a strike rate of 79.04. In the five T20Is innings that he has played, he has scored 42 runs at an average of 10.50.
