Bhanu Saptami 2025: According to the Vedic Panchang, Bhanu Saptami falls on Sunday, April 20th. This festival is celebrated on both Krishna and Shukla Paksha days every month. The significance of Bhanu Saptami increases when it falls on a Sunday. On this auspicious day, devotees worship Sun God, the significator of the soul, and engage in charity and good deeds.

On this auspicious occasion, seekers take a dip in the Ganga River and offer prayers to both Mother Ganga and Sun God. If unable to reach the river, they mix Gangajal in water at home and take a bath. Afterward, they perform the worship of Sun God with devotion.

When Is Bhanu Saptami?

The seventh day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Vaishakh will begin at 6:21 PM on April 19th. It will end at 7:00 PM on April 20th. According to the Udaya Tithi calculation, Bhanu Saptami will be observed on April 20th.

Tripushkar Yoga

A rare Tripushkar Yoga is forming on Bhanu Saptami. This yoga will begin at 11:48 AM and end at 7:00 PM. worshipping and meditating on Sun God during this time will grant devotees their desired results. Performing Sun God worship in these yogas will bring eternal and unfailing rewards. This festival is entirely dedicated to Lord Sun.

Auspicious Yoga

On Bhanu Saptami, a Siddha Yoga will occur, lasting until 12:13 AM. worshipping Sun God during this yoga will bring success in auspicious tasks, and all stalled work will start progressing. Additionally, a blessing of good health will be received. This auspicious occasion also aligns with the Purvashada and Uttarashada nakshatras.

Puja Vidhi

  • On Bhanu Saptami, wake up early during Brahma Muhurat, take a bath, and wear clean, neat clothes.
  • Then, offer argya to the Sun God with a copper vessel. Add pure water along with a little red sandalwood, rice, and red flowers in it.
  • While offering argya, chant the Sun mantra: “Om Ghrini Suryaya Namah”.
  • Then, join your hands, take a vow for the fast, and worship Sun God. Offer red flowers, incense, naivedya, and rice to him.
  • At the end of the day, giving charity to those in need is considered a highly virtuous act.
  • Break the fast with sweet food and try to avoid eating salt on this day.

Significance

According to mythological beliefs, the first rays of the Sun fell on Earth on the seventh day of the Shukla Paksha, and since then, this day has been celebrated as Bhanu Saptami. It is believed that any devotee who observes the fast and worships with a sincere heart on this day receives special blessings from Sun God. This fast is said to cure physical ailments, increase self-confidence, and bring new energy into life.

Religious beliefs suggest that worshipping Sun God grants success in all endeavors and provides relief from both physical and mental distress. On Bhanu Saptami, devotees often donate food, water, and money according to their wishes. If you seek liberation from sins committed unknowingly or wish for career advancement, it is advised to take a dip in the Ganga and worship Sun God on this day. While performing the worship, chant the names of Mother Ganga.
