- On the day of Masik Shivratri, wake up early in the morning, take a bath, and wear clean clothes. After that, make a resolution to observe the fast.
- Clean the temple and purify it by sprinkling Ganga water.
- Then, place the Shiva Lingam, the idol or picture of Lord Shiva, and Goddess Parvati.
- Offer Ganga water, Bilva leaves, flowers, incense, lamps, and offerings to the Shiva Lingam.
- Light a ghee or oil lamp in front of Lord Mahadev and recite the Shiv Chalisa.
