Gujarati Farali Dhokla — A Gujarati Fasting Snack Perfect For Sawan 2025 Vrat Days

Try this light, steamed Farali Dhokla recipe that's perfect for Sawan 2025 vrat. Made with samak flour, it’s a healthy, sattvic snack ideal for fasting days. It's quick, easy, and vrat-approved!

The holy month of Sawan is here. With this spiritual month comes a time of cleansing, devotion, and fasting. For many households all across India, especially in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and more, Sawan vrat is not just about abstaining from food. It is also about embracing sattvic and wholesome meals that nourish the body and soul. One of the most loved and light fasting snacks during this period is the Farali Dhokla, a steamed Gujarati delicacy that is soft, spongy, and full of flavour without compromising vrat rules.

Unlike the traditional dhokla that is made from besan or fermented batter, Farali Dhokla uses vrat-friendly ingredients like samak rice (barnyard millet) or singhare ka atta (water chestnut flour), which makes it the perfect fit for Hindu fasting rituals. Whether you are observing Sawan Somvar or following a general Sawan vrat, this dish is both satisfying and permissible. The best part about this snack is that it is steamed and not fried. It is a healthier option compared to all the other commonly eaten farali snacks during the sacred Sawan month.

Farali Dhokla can be enjoyed during breakfast, as an evening snack, or even as a light dinner. You can pair it with green chutney that is made from sendha namak, mint, and coriander. With minimal usage of oil, zero grains, and a burst of tempered flavours from cumin and curry leaves, this dhokla is a brilliant choice for all those devotees who are seeking quick and easy vrat recipes during Sawan.

So, if you are on the lookout for delicious Sawan 2025 recipes that align with your fasting routine yet feel indulgent, Farali Dhokla is one snack that you must definitely try. This nutritious Sawan recipe requires quick prep and simple steps that result in a wholesome delight at home.
