30 Minute Meals Navratri 2025: Quick And Healthy Rajgira Kadhi For Your Fasting Days

Make quick and healthy rajgira kadhi this Navratri 2025. A nutritious, vrat-friendly recipe perfect for fasting days with simple ingredients.

Navratri is one of the most celebrated festivals in India. It is marked not only by devotion and rituals but also by special fasting foods. These vrat-friendly foods bring people together in spirit and tradition. During these auspicious days, devotees follow a sattvik diet that excludes grains and certain spices. Instead embracing wholesome ingredients like rajgira (amaranth), sabudana, singhara, and kuttu flour, such foods opt for simple ingredients. Among the many vrat-friendly dishes, rajgira kadhi holds a special place for being both nourishing and flavourful, making it a comforting addition to fasting meals.

Rajgira, also known as amaranth flour, is a powerhouse of nutrition. Rich in fibre, protein, calcium, and essential minerals, it keeps you energised during long fasting hours while being easy on the stomach. When combined with yoghurt and mild spices, it transforms into a smooth and delicious kadhi that pairs beautifully with sama rice (barnyard millet) or can be enjoyed on its own as a light meal. What makes rajgira kadhi particularly appealing is that it strikes the right balance between health and taste, ensuring you don’t feel deprived while observing fasts.

Unlike the regular kadhi, this kadhi that is prepared during the navratri fasts avoids chickpea flour and uses rajgira as the base, giving it a unique nutty flavour. The addition of curry leaves, cumin, and green chillies enhances its aroma while keeping it aligned with fasting rules. It is quick to prepare, but it also requires minimal ingredients. It is perfect for those busy days when you want something wholesome yet effortless.

Whether you are fasting strictly or simply wish to enjoy a light and healthy dish during Navratri 2025, rajgira kadhi is a recipe that truly satisfies. With its creamy texture, subtle spices, and nutritional benefits, it is bound to become a festive favourite at your dining table.
