- 4 Piece Potato (boiled, medium)
- 4 Tablespoon Posto (poppy seeds)
- 2 Piece Green Chilli
- 2.5 Tablespoon Mustard Oil
- 1 Teaspoon Kalonji
- 0.5 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- Salt
- Water
Cooking Instructions
Take the poppy seeds and soak them in warm water for about 15 minutes. Once done, drain and grind them with green chillies and a few drops of mustard oil. Turn it into a smooth paste.
Take a kadhai, and heat mustard oil in it. Add kalonji and let them crackle.
Toss in the boiled, cubed potatoes. Sprinkle turmeric and salt. Mix well so that the potatoes are evenly coated.
Add in the posto. Add water to adjust the consistency and cook on low flame for about 5 minutes.
Once the oil separates and the potatoes absorb the flavour, switch off the flame.
Serve the traditional Bengali Aloo Posto hot with steamed rice.
