- Malaysia's top court ordered former prime minister Najib Razak to begin a 12-year prison sentence on Tuesday after upholding a guilty conviction on charges related to a multi-billion dollar graft scandal at state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). Knocking back Najib's final appeal, the country's top court also denied his request for a stay of sentence.
- Joe Biden recently ordered US troops to conduct airstrikes against the Iranian-backed groups in Syria, after a week several US rockets landed at a military base in Syria housing the troops.
- Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to retake its take over Crimea peninsula from Russia by any means necessary and added that Kyiv would consult with countries before taking such action. The Ukrainian president made these comments at the second iteration of the Crimea Platform on Tuesday—an online gathering of 60 nations and international organisations hosted by Kyiv focused on the peninsula.
- After years of debate, Singapore is set to abolish the colonial-era 377A law that bans gay sex. The move will effectively make homosexuality legal in the city-state. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced the decision on national television Sunday. After India, Taiwan and Thailand, Singapore is the latest in Asia to take such a decision on LGBT rights. Many in Singapore hailed the move, but it also came with a degree of disappointment as the PM also said the definition of marriage would remain as one between a man and a woman, since most people in Singapore are not in favour of a "drastic shift",

- The Enforcement Directorate raided multiple locations in Jharkhand on Wednesday and recovered 2 AK series assault rifles as part of an ongoing money-laundering investigation into alleged illegal mining in the state, official sources said. The weapons were kept in an almirah at a home in Ranchi, they said.
- The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday raided the residences of leaders of the Rashtriya Janata Dal reportedly in connection with the "land-for-jobs" scam. The raids were conducted at the properties linked to RJD MLC Sunil Singh and three MPs Ashfaque Karim, Faiyaz Ahmed and Subodh Roy. The RJD has questioned the timing of the raids on the day when the newly-formed Bihar government faces a trust vote on the floor of the Vidhan Sabha. Manoj Jha, RJD MP said the raids were done on purpose to intimidate the party's legislators. The Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) is conducting raids at Urban Cubes mall in Gurugram, Haryana owned by RJD leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. The mall is located in sector 71. The CBI raid is in connection with the land-for-railway jobs scam.
- In yet another blow to Congress, Jaiveer Shergill resigned from the position of National Spokesperson of the grand old party on Wednesday, news agency ANI reported. Shergill, in his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi, said that he is sorry to say that decision making is no longer in the interest of the public and the country, but influenced by the selfish interests of those who indulge in sycophancy and constantly ignoring the ground reality.
- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has convened an emergency meeting of its Political Affairs Committee at 4 pm on Wednesday to discuss and formulate a strategy to counter efforts to “buy MLAs”. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said some of his MLAs have approached him alleging that they have been threatened and offered bribes to break the party. Kejriwal’s statement comes days after Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is facing a CBI probe in connection with alleged excise scam, had claimed that he was offered the Chief Ministerial post by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a withdrawal of all cases if he quit AAP.
