PICTURES: CRPF bus 'blown to pieces' by terrorists in Pulwama attack

A major terror attack took place on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Srinagar-Jammu highway, in its Awantipora area, killing 40 CRPF personnel.

There were 78 vehicles in the convoy and one of the vehicles came under attack. The convoy was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar: CRPF Official on Pulwama attack.

Several people were injured in the blast, which reduced the bus to a mangled heap of iron. The toll is likely to go up.

Police identified the terrorist as Adil Ahmad from Kakapora in Pulwama. He joined the Jaish-Mohammed in 2018, they said.

As per Jaish-e-Mohammed claims, the fidayeen attack took place when a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the bus they were travelling in.

The Pakistan backed outfit claimed responsibility for attack, in a text message to Kashmiri News Agency GNS, ANI said.

At least 25 jawans have been reported injured in the IED blast, that exploded a bus that was part of a CRPF convoy.

The attack is being said to be the biggest terror attack after the Uri attacks in 2016

Terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohamed has claimed the responsibility of the attack. The outfit has said that it was a suicide attack, while the official statement from CRPF has stated that it was an IED blast.
