The mortal remains were flown aboard a Special Military Aircraft to their hometowns of Yadadri (near Hyderabad), Telangana, and Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

The bodies of the two pilots killed in an Army helicopter crash in Arunachal Pradesh were flown to their home states on Friday.

Lt Col. VVB Reddy's mortal remains have been transferred to Hyderabad, and Maj. Jayanth A's to Madurai, according to Defence spokesperson Lt Col. Mahendra Rawat.

After a wreath-laying ceremony in Tezpur, the bodies were carried by a special military plane.

On Thursday morning, an Army Cheetah helicopter on an operational sortie from Missamari in Assam to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh crashed near Mandala in West Kameng district.

The Army has formed a court of investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

Lt Col. Reddy's body is scheduled to arrive in Hyderabad around 6 pm It will be driven to his hometown of Yadadri in Telengana.

The aircraft carrying the co-body pilot's is due to arrive in Madurai around 8 pm, PTI reported.
