Amritsar's revered Golden Temple shone brilliantly on Monday as Sikhs celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism.

This sacred festival, also known as Gurpurab, is observed annually on the full moon date of the Kartik month, coinciding with Kartik Purnima.

Guru Nanak Jayanti holds immense significance for Sikhs worldwide, symbolizing love and reverence for their first guru. The festival, also known as Parkash Utsav, commemorates the life, achievements, and legacy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Guru Nanak Dev was born in 1469 at Talwandi Nankana Sahib, near Lahore, Pakistan. He played a pivotal role in laying the foundation of Sikhism and spreading enlightenment.

In addition to the celebrations at the Golden Temple, Varanasi, one of the oldest and holiest cities in India, was aglow with diyas (earthen lamps) as it celebrated Dev Deepavali. The festival, organized by the Uttar Pradesh Government, drew over 7 to 8 lakh devotees this year.

The riverfront ghats of the Ganges River, spanning from Ravidas Ghat to Rajghat, dazzled with over 10 lakh diyas, honouring the sacred river Ganga and its presiding goddess. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met foreign delegates as part of the festivities.
