Man Uses Tomatoes To Cook Food, Wife Leaves Home For Not Being Consulted. Report

Sandeep Burman, who runs a tiffin service, said that a huge fight broke out between the couple after he used two tomatoes to cook food without his wife's permission.

Heavy rainfall in several parts of the country has caused tomato prices to skyrocket. Retail price has touched up to Rs 200 per kilogramme in some parts, thus weighing heavily on people's finances, including restaurants and food manufacturers that heavily rely on this versatile ingredient However, in a bizarre incident, a woman left her husband in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol after he cooked food using two tomatoes, NDTV reported. 

Sandeep Burman, who runs a tiffin service, said that a huge fight broke out between the couple after he used two tomatoes to cook food without his wife's permission. Upset that she was not consulted, the wife left the house with their daughter.

Sandeep tried to find them but failed after which he approached the police requesting them to find his wife Aarti Burman.

"She left the home along with my daughter and boarded a bus. I have been looking for her for three days and given her photograph too to the police but they haven't been able to find her," Burman was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The police confirmed that the man has filed a complaint and said that his wife has been traced to her sister's place.

"Aarti left her home after an argument with her husband and went to her sister's place in Umaria," said Sanjay Jaiswal, Station House Officer, Dhanpuri, Shahdol.

The police also said that they intervened and made the husband and wife speak to each other. She will return soon, Jaiswal further said, reported the news outlet.

Meanwhile, the Centre in order to cool down prices will start selling tomatoes at discounted rates in retail markets in the national capital and few other cities from Friday.

Tomatoes will be sold at discounted rates in Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region), Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. It will be available in cities, including Patna, Varanasi, Kanpur and Kolkata, Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh told PTI.
