'We Understand Importance Of US': Zelenskyy Drops Video After Tense Oval Office Exchange

Despite a fractious meeting with Trump last week, Zelensky said he was willing to have a "constructive dialogue" with the US.

Days After a verbal spat with US President Donald Trump at the Oval Office, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dropped a video message expressing gratitude to the US on his social media handle.

"Of course, we understand the importance of America, and we are grateful for all the support we’ve received from the United States. There has not been a day when we haven’t felt gratitude," Zelenskyy said in a two-minute video. He also expressed gratitude for the preservation of Ukraine's independence.

"Our resilience in Ukraine is based on what our partners are doing for us – and for their own security. What we need is peace, not endless war. And that’s why we say security guarantees are the key to this," he added.

The Ukrainian leader said everyone is united on the main issue – for peace to be real, we need real security guarantees. "And this is the position of all of Europe – the entire continent. The United Kingdom, the European Union, Türkiye," he added.

Ready To Sign Minerals Deal With US: Zelenskyy

Earlier, Zelenskyy told BBC he was still "ready to sign" a US-Ukraine minerals deal after leaving the White House without it being agreed.

Despite a fractious meeting with Trump last week, Zelenskyy said he was willing to have a "constructive dialogue" with the US. He said, "I just want the Ukrainian position to be heard."

"We want our partners to remember who the aggressor is in this war," he told reporters.

The Ukrainian leader was told to leave without the deal being signed after the heated exchange between him, Trump and US Vice-President JD Vance.
