'Tax The Rich': Harriet Hageman Republican MP Faces Protests By Voters During Town Hall — Watch

The town hall in Wyoming turned tense after Representative Harriet Hageman faced boos during her meeting while a Democratic lawmaker in Illinois was met with pro-Palestinian protesters.

A town hall in Laramie, Wyoming in the United States erupted with “jeers” of disapproval and “boos” on Wednesday as Republican Representative Harriet Hageman while she was trying to answer questions about Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) efforts.

Hageman while talking about DOGE and its efforts to reconfigure the federal government, following which she said, “It’s so bizarre to me how obsessed you are with the federal government.” She was immediately interrupted by boos and heckling. Several constituents were carrying signs, which Hageman asked people to put on the floor so that people behind them could see.

According to CNN. people at the town hall even yelled "Tax the rich" and "you are fascists".

Trying to take control Hageman repeatedly told the crowd, “You guys are going to have a heart attack if you don’t calm down” to which a constituent yelled, “we already are having heart attacks!”.

According to CNN, Hageman told the crowd she liked the opportunity to do town halls “because it lets me come here, give you an update on what I’m doing back in Washington, DC,” prompting a to respond “nothing”.

“If you have so little respect for our process and for what we are in this country,” Hageman started before being interrupted by some boos, according to the report. “Then I would ask you to leave.”

According to CNN, people have criticised Republican members of Congress about President Donald Trump’s executive power and Elon Musk’s DOGE.

Democrats Under Fire From Constituents

This isn’t the first time when voters expressed their dissatisfaction during town hall meetings with those in the office. Democratic members have also come under fire for being disorganised and not fighting Trump hard enough.

On Wednesday, Democratic Representative Sean Casten was interrupted several times by pro-Palestinian protesters during a town hall meeting in Downers Grove, Illinois. He warned that people “are going to decide not to come to town halls anymore because it’s not productive.”

A woman asked Casten if he committed to signing to block the $8 billion dollars that would go to Israel, to which the Democratic representative who looked frustrated said “Ma’am, I’m not taking orders from you. Have some respect for people here.” To which she said, “Have some respect for human life, Sean!”

A man who was close to the stage, said “You’re saying I’m not going to get my way while my people are being slaughtered?”
