Ukrainian Sniper Targets Russian Soldier With ‘Second-Longest' Sniper Shot In World: Report

The National Guard of Ukraine, in a statement said, “With the onset of dusk, snipers of special forces units of the National Guard go hunting. Very quick and accurate work by one of them last night."

Ukraine claimed that the sniper shot was the 'second-longest' in the world.

A Ukrainian sniper has put of place a British soldier to claim the second top spot for the longest sniper shot in the world, taking out a Russian soldier from a distance of 1.68 miles or approximately 2.70 kilometres, reported UK-based Mirror. The National Guard of Ukraine, in a statement said, “With the onset of dusk, snipers of special forces units of the National Guard go hunting. Very quick and accurate work by one of them last night."

The images were also shared by the Office of Strategic Communications (StratComs) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along with a statement saying, “A Ukrainian sniper came very close to the world record for the longest combat sniper shot.” 

"The occupier was eliminated by a precise shot of our special forces from a distance of 2,710 metres - a distance that now ranks 2nd in the world ranking, confirmed by the command of the Armed Forces,” it added.

"We would like to remind [people] that the first place in the world is occupied by a shot from a Canadian sniper at a distance of 3,540 metres [11,614 feet] while performing a task in Iraq,” the StratComs said. 

"The second place belonged to the British Craig Harrison, at a distance of 2,475 metres [8,120 feet],” it said.

A former cavalry Corporal in the British Army, Craig Harrison earlier held the world record for the longest sniper kill while he was serving in the British Army in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province in 2009. He had shot and killed two Taliban machine gunners from a distance of 2,475 metres. 

Today has marked the 265th day of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, after Russia's tyrant invaded the country on February 24, in what the Kremlin is still calling a "special military operation".
