Top Democrat Fundraiser George Clooney Raises Fresh Doubts About Biden's Candidacy For Presidential Polls

Fresh doubts about Biden returning to power came from Hollywood star George Clooney, who co-hosted a star-studded fundraiser for the US President last month.

United States President Joe Biden has been facing withering questions about his fitness for another term in office, as some of his fellow Democrats on Capitol Hill and campaign donors fear that he will lose the presidential election to former President Donald Trump after a stumbling performance in the debate on June 27.

Fresh doubts about his chances of returning to power came from Hollywood star George Clooney who co-hosted a star-studded fundraiser for the US President last month. He withdrew his support with an opinion piece in the New York Times saying that Biden was not the same man he was in 2020.

In his opinion piece, Clooney said, "It's devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe 'big F-ing deal' Biden of 2010. He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate," as quoted by Reuters.

"We are not going to win in November with this president. On top of that, we won't win the House, and we're going to lose the Senate," the Hollywood star further stated.

Clooney also said, "Our party leaders need to stop telling us that 51 million people didn’t see what we just saw. This is about age. Nothing more," as quoted by the BBC. The Hollywood star further stated that his concerns matched those of "every" member of Congress with whom he had spoken.

Meanwhile on the other hand, speaking on MSNBC, Democratic Party member Nancy Pelosi said that she was encouraging colleagues on Capitol Hill who had concerns about Biden to refrain from airing them while he hosts NATO leaders in Washington, as reported by news agency Reuters.

"I've said to everyone, let's just hold off. Whatever you're thinking, either tell somebody privately, but you don't have to put that out on the table until we see how we go this week," she said, as quoted by Reuters.

Pelosi, however, refused to say definitively that she wanted Biden to run. "I want him to do whatever he decides to do," she said. "We're all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short."
