Russia's Missile Attack On Kyiv Leaves 10 Injured, Causes Massive Damage

Russia launched missile attack on Kyiv on Thursday injuring at least 10 people including an 11-year old girl.

Russia on Thursday launched a missile attack on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, injuring at least 10 people and causing large-scale damage to residential buildings and industrial facilities, city officials stated. According to the head of Kyiv's military administration, Sephiy Popko, this was the first large attack in recent weeks, targetting the city with cruise and ballistic missiles.

"After a pause of 44 days, the enemy launched another missile attack on Kyiv," Popko stated. "All emergency services are working on sites. Clearing the consequences of the missile attack is underway," news agency Reuters quoted Popko saying.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that at least 10 people were injured across Kyiv including an 11-year-old girl. The city officials stated that she was among the two people who were rushed to the hospital, Reuters reported.

Popko further stated that the Russian military used strategic bombers in the attack and also launched missiles from its territory. The missiles targeted the city from various directions while following complicated maneuvers in neighboring areas, Reuters reported.

Following the attack, the air alerts in the capital lasted for nearly three hours. The mayor stated that the missile debris hit several industrial sites, residential buildings, and even a kindergarten across the city.

As per the Reuters' report, the residents of a multi-story building in Kyiv's central district of Shevchenkivskyi were evacuated after one of the apartments caught fire. The missile attack also shattered windows in many houses and set private cars ablaze.
