Recount in Wisconsin certifies Trump victory, widens lead
Washington: The presidential election results recount in Wisconsin state of the US has certified the victory of President-elect Donald Trump and even increased his victory margin by 131 votes.
The Wisconsin Election Commission on Monday reported that Trump added 844 votes to his total in the November 8 elections, while Clinton added 713.
Overall, Trump won 1,405,284 votes -- 22,748 more than Clinton with 1,382,536, EFE news reported.
The Wisconsin recount was requested by Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, who barely received 1 per cent of the votes.
He claimed, without providing evidence, that voting machines in some states could have been hacked by some foreign interference.
Trump, for his part, tweeted: "The final Wisconsin vote is in and guess what -- we just picked up an additional 131 votes. The Democrats and Green Party can now rest. Scam!"
Claiming the same alleged hacking on voting machines, Stein also tried to have recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania, where Trump also won beating the forecasts.
However, courts in both states rejected the request to recount the presidential election ballots, in which Trump won by about 44,000 votes in Pennsylvania and about 11,000 in Michigan.
Clinton needed victories in all three crucial states to overturn the November 8 result.
