Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs reported on Friday that over 20,000 Indians had departed Ukraine since our first travel alert was announced.

During a daily briefing on Friday, Arindam Bagchi, the official spokeswoman for the Ministry of External Affairs, stated that there are more individuals, but it is heartening to see that so many people have left Ukraine.

“Over 20,000 Indians have left the Ukraine borders since we issued our advisories. There are more people, but it’s reassuring to see that these many people have left Ukrainian borders,” he said.

“During the 24 hours, 18 flights have landed in India with around 4,000 Indians on board. The total number of flights that have landed have been 48, carrying 10348 Indians,” he said.

He stated that sixteen planes, including an Indian Air Force C-17, were scheduled within the following 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a meeting yesterday to address the ongoing evacuation of Indian people as well as the situation in conflict-torn Ukraine.

In addition, the government has dispatched 'special envoys' to four other nations bordering Ukraine to organise and supervise the evacuation of Indian people.
