Pakistani TikToker Found Dead At Home, Daughter Alleges 'Poisoned For Refusing Marriage'

Pakistani TikToker Sumeera Rajput was allegedly poisoned by individuals forcing her into marriage, according to her daughter. Police are investigating, having arrested two suspects.

A Pakistani TikTok content creator Sumeera Rajput was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home in the Bago Wah area of Sindh's Ghotki district. Rajput’s death has triggered public outrage in Pakistan, highlighting concerns about the deep-rooted violence faced by women, particularly those active on digital platforms.

Sumeera Rajput, a widely-followed TikTok content creator with more than 58,000 followers and over one million likes, was allegedly poisoned by individuals who had long been coercing her into a forced marriage, Geo News reported.

Rajput's 15-year-old daughter has claimed that her mother had been poisoned over forced marriage, Geo News reported, citing Ghotki District Police Officer Anwar Shaikh. The daughter alleged that suspects administered poisonous tablets to her mother, which led to Rajput’s death.
 
The report further said that no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, despite the seriousness of the allegations. An investigation is underway to discover if foul play was involved.

Although two individuals, Babu Rajput and Muhammad Imran, have been booked and taken into custody, police are yet to confirm the exact motive behind the alleged killing. This has raised concerns about police concern and the lack of urgency and responsibility in protecting the rights of women in Pakistan.

“A post-mortem of Sameera Rajput has been conducted, which has revealed that she died because of poisoning,” Ghotki Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Anwar Khetran said.
 
Rajput's case is the latest in a series of targeted killings of female influencers in Pakistan. Last month, a 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf was shot dead inside her home in Islamabad. Umar Hayat, her alleged killer was arrested, but the motive still remains unclear. The 22-year-old man had reportedly been contacting her persistently.

Following her murder, #JusticeForSanaYousuf began trending on Instagram and X amid widespread outrage on social media over her death.

On July 11, a girl was shot dead by her father in Rawalpindi after she refused to delete her account on TikTok.

Pakistan's administration has remained unresponsive to violence against women despite increase in killings over harassment, forced marriage, and gender.
