Pakistan President Arif Alvi Tests Positive For Covid-19

Pakistan’s President Dr Arif Alvi has tested positive for Covid-19, days after being administered the first jab of the coronavirus vaccine.

Alvi, who shared the news on micro-blogging platform Twitter, said that he had the first dose of vaccine but antibodies began to develop after the second dose that was due in a week.

“I have tested positive for Covid-19. May Allah have mercy on all Covid affectees. Had 1st dose of vaccine، but antibodies start developing after 2nd dose that was due in a week. Please continue to be careful,” he tweeted.

Earlier this month, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan tested positive for the virus.

The Pakistan Prime Minister, who tested positive for coronavirus two days after taking the first shot of a Chinese coronavirus vaccine, has isolated himself at his home. The former cricketer-turned-politician’s health condition is said to be stable.

The vaccination drive in Pakistan, which received earlier this week half a million doses of coronavirus vaccines donated by China, is currently underway for senior citizens.

Pakistan has so far registered over six lakh positive Covid-19 cases with over 13,000 deaths.
