Pakistan: 2 Children Killed, 4 Hurt In Bomb Blast In Balochistan, Probe On

The explosion occurred in the Mach area of the Bolan district of Balochistan province.

At least two children were killed and four others sustained injuries after a remote-controlled bomb exploded in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province, news agency PTI reported, citing police. The police said that a police station in the area was the target. The injured were taken to the hospital. The police launched an investigation into the incident.

The explosion occurred in the Mach area of the Bolan district of the province on Saturday, police officials further stated.

According to a senior police official, the bomb was hidden under a vendor’s cart just behind the police station building on Jail Road, which has a small market as well. “The bomb was remotely detonated, and two children aged 10 and 12 who were passing by were killed in the explosion,” he said, as quoted by PTI.

The official stated that there were no casualties in the police station due to the incident since most of the policemen were on patrolling duty but its back wall was damaged.

Earlier this month, a blast took place near a school on Pesharwar's Warsak Road in Pakistan in which six people sustained injuries, including three children, two of whom are critical, The Dawn reported quoting police and rescue officials.

Warsak Superintendent of Police Arshad Khan told the daily that the incident occurred near the Peshawar Public School on Warsak Road at around 9:10 am. The injured children were moved to a private hospital for treatment and two of them are critical. The ages of the children were between seven and 10 years.

An official told The Dawn that four kilograms of explosives were planted in a “cemented block” on the side of the road to cause the explosion. The area has been cordoned off and further investigation is ongoing in the matter.
