Norway: Shooting Outside Nightclub In Oslo Leaves Two Dead, Several Wounded

The Oslo Police District reported that several shots were fired at a nightclub killing at least two people and several more severely wounded. Circumstances leading to the shooting were unclear. 

New Delhi: A shooting incident outside a nightclub in Norway’s capital Oslo left two people injured while several others wounded, reported news agency ANI quoting media reports citing Norwegian authorities. The Oslo Police District reported that several shots were fired at a nightclub adding that at least two people were killed while several more severely wounded, reported CBS News. 

As per the report quoting police officials, a suspect was in custody. Though the circumstances leading to the shooting were unclear. 

Meanwhile, the United States Senate on Thursday night passed a bipartisan bill to address gun violence in the country, the first major piece of federal gun reform in almost 30 years. 

In the final vote of 65-33 15 Republicans joined the Democrats in supporting the measure marking a significant bipartisan victory on one of the most contentious policy issues in the US.

The bill will now go to the House for a vote and it could take up the bill as early as Friday, before it can be sent to President Joe Biden to be signed into law.

The bill comes with a worth of USD 13.2 billion which include millions of dollars for mental health, school safety, crisis intervention programmes and incentives to include juvenile records in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. 

The vote on the federal gun safety bill came on the same day when the US Supreme Court had struck down a New York gun law and allowed  carrying of guns in public.
