Nepal PM Deuba Thanks Indian Govt For Assistance In Repatriating Nepali Nationals From Ukraine

The Prime Minister said four Nepali nationals have arrived in the country from Ukraine via India.

New Delhi: Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday thanked the Indian government for the assistance in repatriating the nationals of his country from Ukraine through ‘Operation Ganga’.

The Prime Minister said four Nepali nationals have arrived in the country from Ukraine via India.

“Four Nepali nationals have just arrived in Nepal from Ukraine via India. Thank you Prime Minister @narendramodi and the Government of India for the assistance in repatriating Nepali nationals through the #OperationGanga,” he tweeted.

India has been evacuating the stranded citizens from Ukraine, presently locked in a conflict with Russia, under ‘Operation Ganga’.

Earlier on Friday, another batch of students returned to India under ‘Operation Ganga’ and reunited with their families and friends.

The Embassy of India in Russia on Friday issued guidelines for the Indian students studying in the country.

The Embassy said that it has been receiving messages from the Indian students in universities in Russia seeking advice on their continued stay in the country.

“The Embassy would like to reassure all students that at present we see no security reasons for them to leave,” the guidelines said.

“The Embassy is in regular contact with relevant authorities with respect to the safety and security of the Indian nationals, including students,” the guidelines added.

The guidelines further said certain disruption of banking services in Russia and direct flight connectivity from Russia to India is, however, taking place.

“If students have concerns regarding these aspects and would like to travel back to India, they may consider doing so,” the guidelines added.

Regarding the academic programs, the Embassy said that it has been informed by a number of universities that they have already shifted to the online distance learning mode.

“Students are advised to exercise their discretion in consultation with their respective universities on the appropriate course of action regarding continuation of their academic activities without disruption,” the guidelines added.
