As per the information shared by Buddha Air on X (formerly Twitter), Flight Number 953 experienced a technical problem in the right engine. The flight was enroute to Bhadrapur from Kathmandu, when the technical issue occured.

"As a result, the aircraft was diverted back to Kathmandu and safely landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 11:15 am," the post said.

The airlines added that their technical team is currently checking the aircraft. "Preparations are underway to send the passengers to Bhadrapur on another ship", Buddha Air said.

A VOR landing is a way which helps pilot to navigate and land an aircraft using signals from a ground-based radio station called a VOR (Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range). It helps pilots line up with the runway when they can't see it clearly.

A few days back, two people died after a small plane crashed into a commercial building in California. Around 18 people were injured in the crash. The plane crashed early in the afternoon near Fullerton Municipal Airport, 40 kilometres southeast of Los Angeles. Additionally, 10 people were admitted to the hospital and eight others were treated on the spot.
