Telangana Student Shot Dead At Petrol Pump In Chicago, Had Moved To US 3 Months Ago For MBA
The 22-year-old student, identified as Sai Teja Nukarapu, was shot at by unidentified assailants at the petrol pump in Chicago in the early hours of Saturday.
A 22-year-old Indian-origin student from Khamman, Telangana, was shot dead at a petrol pump where he worked in Chicago, United States.
The deceased student, identified as Sai Teja Nukarapu, was shot at by unidentified assailants in the early hours of Saturday (IST), BRS MLC Madhusudan Thatha said, citing preliminary information received from the US.
The Consulate General of India in Chicago expressed shock over the murder of the Indian student and called for "immediate action" against the culprits.
"We are shocked and deeply sad at the murder of Indian Student Nukarapu Sai Teja. We demand immediate action against the culprits. Consulate will extend all possible help to the family and friends of the victim," the Consulate General of India in Chicago, USA, stated in a post on X.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also expressed grief over the student's tragic death and stated that the consulate was providing all possible assistance to the family of the victim.

The leader said he had called on the Sai Teja's parents at their Khammam residence, who told him that the victim was not on duty at the time of the incident. He was instead helping a friend who had requested him to stay in his place for some time as he had to go out for some work.
The victim completed BBA in India and was pursuing MBA in the US. He had reportedly gone there just three months ago. One of the relatives told PTI that Sai Teja was doing part-time job. "It is sad to know that Sai Teja was shot dead when he stayed on at the place of work to help a friend," the relative said.
Meanwhile, MLC Thatha said he spoke to the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) for assistance in the incident. The student's mortal remains are expected to reach India next week, PTI reported.
A few days ago, a 26-year-old Indian student pursing his PhD in the US, was shot dead inside his car in Ohio. His car had crashed into a wall on the upper deck of the Western Hills Viaduct on November 9.
