EAM S Jaishankar Shares Pics From Trump's Inauguration Ceremony, Says 'Privileged' To Represent India

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar represented India at the swearing-in ceremony of US President Donald Trump, delivering a letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday said that he was "privileged" to represent India at the swearing-in ceremony of the 47th President of the United States of America Donald Trump in Washington DC.

As reported by news agency PTI, S Jaishankar is also carrying a letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for US President Donald Trump. Jaishankar was representing PM Modi as his special envoy at President Trump's inaugural function on Monday.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), External Affairs Minister posted, "Privileged to represent India as External Affairs Minister and Special Envoy of PM at the Swearing-In Ceremony of the 47th President of the United States of America today in Washington DC. 

Attended the Inauguration Day Prayer Service at St John’s Church this morning."

Sharing photos of the inauguration ceremony in another post, he said, "A great honour to represent India at the inauguration ceremony of President Donald J Trump and Vice President JD Vance in Washington DC today."

EAM Jaishankar also posted a photo with fellow Foreign Ministers at the US Capitol for the inauguration ceremony.

Reaching a day earlier, Jaishankar held a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart Takeshi Iwaya. "The ministers utilised the meeting to take stock of salient issues in bilateral cooperation, including in the political, security, economic, technological, and people-to-people domains," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
